Kathy's Testimony

My name is Kathy Schmidt. I have been married for over twenty-six years. I have two daughters and two precious grandchildren. I have worked with the youth for eighteen years, led mission teams around the country, held seminars for parents, and given life skill speeches all around the city.
My passion is Jesus and to share my life with those that are the “least of these”. I have been to New York after 9-11 and seen things no one should be allowed to see. I have held and prayed with people who have lost everything or had nothing to begin with.
Twenty-six years ago, I gave my life to Christ, nine years ago, God gave me an assignment to “GO”! Since that day in early fall, everything around me changed. I truly died to Christ and I have never looked back. I do the things I do because I have NO CHOICE. My heart is for young people, to show them a better way, that the life they have now and in the future is decided by them.
I met Richard Bennett a few years ago at a luncheon. God told me that I had to meet this man before I left. When I did, I knew that he was part of the plan God had for His will for my life. Through Minister Bennett, I began to see things that Jesus wanted us to do. We had Bible study together, we learned that we shared the same vision, and that is where “ A Better Tomorrow” ministry got its roots. Richard Bennett, led by the Holy Spirit, wrote out the program as it was to be implemented.
As the Assistant Director of A Better Tomorrow, Inc., my duties are more than just providing direction for others. I take ten young ladies into my classroom for eight-weeks, and during that time, I become their mother, grandmother, preacher, teacher, friend, and an advocate to them. We talk about life: Where they are now as a young person and what their future might look like. All paths do not lead down the same road.
I teach the truth about “sex and love”. After eight-weeks, they have no excuse for bad choices, they can only change or except them. The words they say and the choices they make will become their “Destiny”. As a mentor to all women through ABT, I teach the importance of being a good wife and mother. I explain to young ladies about what is proper and expected as a woman and Richard does the same for the young men. After eight-weeks the children are given their “rights of passage” along with a five year plan written by them to look at as they strive to achieve their goals in life and have A Better Tomorrow .
Women today need to hear the truth about life, taught by God, as to how to be a wife of noble character. My teaching through the Holy Spirit has become my passion for strong marriages and families.

“The truth is real and Real is Jesus Christ.”
